What is Love?

What is love?

Is it enjoying the company of that person? Is it the inability to get that person off your mind?

You see, I was so used to growing up in a society that constantly reinforces the idea of love not being for teenagers that I always considered it off limits.

I never once sat back and reflected on what love is - I was too scared.

I was too scared about mistaking lust for love; too scared about biting off more than I could chew.

Too scared about loving you being a real possibility.

But now, I realize that love is not only a what but a how as well: it is not "What is love?", but rather "How do I love?" Well, I can love someone, or grow to love someone, by simply:

  • Cherishing
  • Comforting
  • Accepting

It is one thing to love a person, but to actually demonstrate this love is another journey.

Maybe I have made love too complex an idea by tagging ridiculous technicalities along with the term.

I mean, I love my family, and I love my friends.

So why is admitting I love someone so hard?

Is it the hurt associated with love?  Is it the forwardness linked with teenage love?

Love is a cocktail of chemical that course through the body like natural amphetimines, that’s why we are addicted..

Interesting, I think that’s the case for many instances, ESPECIALLY young persons.

Love between a man and a woman (no matter the age) is a good thing.
Most important is to listen not only with your ears but with your hearts.

“Listen not only with your ears but with your hearts.” – Can’t believe I forgot about the heart’s importance!

    Sonnet 116
    William Shakespeare

Let me not to the marriage of true minds

Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
    That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved. (Shakespeare)

There is only ONE love…Agape. Agape constrains me to love you no matter how much you hate me. Agape loves no matter what we believe, what sex we are, how we smell, what color our skin is. Agape ACTS, not feels. Love, true love is a verb, that means action is involved. Agape therefore is perfectly at home here. Agape proves itself by doing for all. It is,the ultimate test of will because Agape is something you make the decision to do. Finally, Agape is health for you. When administered properly it gives you a feeling of well being that calms and balances you, and that’s good for you on ANY day. Now ask me how you GET Agape. I will tell you next time.
